The beach at Dawlish Warren is
one of the best beaches we know of - two miles of very safe sand,
ideal for the family. The Nature reserve that is situated on the
Warren runs guided walks and events for the whole family. There
are estuary and sea birds in abundance. Many wading birds can
be seen here for example Oystercatchers,
Sandpipers
and Curlews.

Why not take to the water for
a spot of windsurfing or try the new extreme
craze to hit the South west - kitesurfing. Lessons
for both these activities are available locally from Waterfront
Sports of Exmouth.
Surfing is very
popular in North Devon and North Cornwall. It will take a drive
of about an hour and a half to visit the popular surfing beaches
of Croyd, Polzeath, Watergate Bay, Fistral, and Newquay
Cycling in this
area is very popular and there are tow paths along the estuary
which are ideal for safe cycling. There is also a mountain biking
park with cycle hire just a few minutes drive away link to Haldon
Forest Park or
call 01392 833768.
Golf is also
very popular with 18 hole golf courses in Dawlish Warren, Teignmouth,
& Teign Valley. There are 9 hole courses in Exminster, Starcross,
and Exeter with the odd driving range thrown in too. Link to Dawlish
Warren Golf Club, Teignmouth
Golf Club, and Exminster
Golf Centre.
Horse riding
is another popular pursuit and there are many stables on Dartmoor
and in the local area. Link to Attractions or Dartmoor or direct

For anglers,
we have our freshwater lake stocked with carp, roach and tench.
There are plenty of opportunities for sea angling either from
the beach or by boat from nearby Exmouth - just a short ferry
trip away across the Exe estuary. Some of the Dartmoor reservoirs
can also be fished by permit.
Many other sports are locally
available if you go searching for them including tennis, badminton,
squash and indoor swimming.
